Wednesday, July 15th, 2009Deafness is a person’s inability to hear sounds. There are four known types of hearing loss. A detailed look into hearing would make it clear that some auditory problems may be so severe that a Hearing Aid online may not be adequate to assuage the effects.
The first is called conductive hearing loss. This is caused by diseases or by an obstruction in the outer or the middle ear and is relatively not severe. A person suffering form a conductive hearing loss can be helped by a hearing aid. So in this case, getting a cheap digital hearing aid just might do the trick. Conductive hearing losses can usually be corrected through surgical or medical treatment as well.
The second kind of deafness is called sensorineural hearing loss. This results from damage to the sensory hair cells or the nerves of the inner ear and actually has a range in severity: going from mild deafness to profound deafness. This loss usually occurs in certain sound frequencies more than in others, making the perceived sounds distorted and incoherent even when the sound level is amplified. A hearing aid may not be able to help a person with a sensorineural loss.
The third kind is mixed hearing loss. This type is caused by problems in both in the outer or middle ear and in the inner ear.
The last kind is central hearing loss which is the result of damage to or impairment of the nerves or nuclei of the central nervous system.
