Reminiscing About Photosynthesis

LED grow lights play a crucial role in the process of photosynthesis that indoor plants need to undergo to. Photosynthesis…big science word?

No, even when we were kids, our science teacher would have probably taught us something about photosynthesis and how it is related to the words important, human beings and air we breathe. So with this, let’s have a nostalgic look back on our first grade science when our teacher drew an illustration on the blackboard of a plant, a stick man and the sun interconnected by inward and outward curved arrows that form a loop.

Photosynthesis is the process triggered by the energy coming from the light of the sun, where carbon dioxide is broken down to become the plants’ food. After being nourished by the carbon dioxide that human beings breathe out, plants release oxygen which is important for human beings to survive because it is the air that we breathe. That is basically how simple and majestic photosynthesis works.

Once again, sunlight, energy, carbon dioxide, food for the plants, oxygen, human beings, air we breathe, that is photosynthesis.

However, in the science of indoor planting, photosynthesis is triggered by the energy coming from plant grow lights instead of the sun. This invokes the processing of carbon dioxide and release of oxygen similar to our first grade photosynthesis lesson. What’s good about indoor planting and plant grow lights is that the environment can be controlled - from the amount of light, water supply and contents of the soil.
